Submission Guidelines

To ensure your submission is a great fit for our audience, please follow these guidelines:

Content Submitted to Traveling Bloke

Step 1 - Content

    Stay on Topic: Keep it travel-related! We love destination guides, travel tips, personal stories, and gear reviews.
  2. 2
    Be Original: Your content should be unique and not published anywhere else. We check Plagiarism using various sources like: originality.ai, copyleaks.com. 
  3. 3
    Use of AI: We love AI and welcome it...to a point. All content submitted must achieve 50%+ human originality score. We check for AI using tools like originality.ai and copyleaks.com. Learn more about AI Detection scores here.

    Quality: Make sure your writing is engaging, informative, and free of errors. All posts should be in English.
  5. 5
    Post Length & Links: Your article should be a minimum of 2000 words, perfect for detailed guides, in-depth analyses, or comprehensive narratives. You may include 1-2 links within the content. Please use brackets to indicate the linked text, e.g., Traveling Bloke [https://travelingbloke.com/collaborate-with-the-traveling-bloke/]

    Please note that we do not permit links to websites related to gambling, adult content, or anything deemed inappropriate or offensive. We reserve the right to reject any links that fall into these categories.

    Headings and Subheadings: Use them to structure your article for better readability.

    Author Bio: Include a short author bio (1-2 sentences). This is not required. If not provided it will be posted under an existing author.

     Meta Description: Include a meta description to use for SEO purposes. Please note this should not excess 159 characters.

    Anchor Keyword: Not required but if there is an anchor keyword(s) in your content please provide it here. 

Step 2- Image Requirements

  1. 1
    featured image is required and must be free of any copyright issues. This image should be named Featured Image when submitted and should be inserted into the google doc. at the head of the post before any content. This indicates to our team this is the Image to use as Featured Image. Images provided must include source as instructed below.

    We recommend including 1-2 additional images (free of any copyright issues), but these are not required. All Images provided must include source as instructed below.
  3. 3
    For list posts (e.g., "10 Best Cafes in Amsterdam"), include an image for each item listed. Images provided must include source as instructed below.
  4. 4
    Images should be 1600px wide for horizontal photos and 975px for vertical. File size should not exceed 300kb per photo.
  5. 5
     Place Images directly within content where you want images to be located notating the source as described directly below the image.

  • For Stock Images
  • - Name of Stock image site pulled from
  • - Format- Image from NAME OF COMPANY (this will not be referenced in post)
  • **Note if you use this option you are acknowledging you have the rights to use this image and based on our T&C's may be liable for any copyright infringement**


  • If you need a good stock photo solution reasonably priced we recommend DepositPhoto


  • For Owned Images
  • - If you own or produced the image yourself
  • - Format- Image by Artist / Photo Name, linked to where it was originally posted

NO IMAGES WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT ONE THE CORRECTLY FORMATTED SOURCE 

 

Step 3 - Initial Submission

    Initial Submission: We'll create and share a Google Drive folder. In this folder, include 3-4 of your best article ideas on Google Doc. each with a working title and a 100-word overview describing what the post will cover.

    Approval: We will review your ideas and notify you within 7 days if one is selected. 

Step 4 - Final Submission

    Write your full article in a Google Docs document, including headings, links, meta description and author bio. Place images directly within content where you want images to be located notating source in the following format directly below image:  Image by: Artist / Photo Name, linked to where it was originally posted. See example here

    If not already add/save the Google Doc to the folder in Google Drive with the completed post once it is ready for review.

Step 5 - Post-Publication

  1. 1
    After your guest post is published, we will promote it on our social media channels (X & Pinterest). We expect you to do the same to maximize its reach.

    Please note that I reserve the right to edit your guest post and add links as needed. Additionally, we reserve the right to decline your post at any time and for any reason.

Content Written by the Traveling Bloke

Step 1 - Needed from you

    Topic/Keywords: Provide specific travel topics or list of keywords to use to help us craft the right content. We recommend 3-10 topics or 3-10 keywords.
  2. 2
    Title: This is optional but perhaps you have an idea for a title, e.g, "Top 10 Beaches in the USA", "How to Budget for a Family Trip -  Top 5/10, How to type of articles are popular and effective.

    Tone: Should the tone be formal, informal, informative? See examples here
  4. 4
    Links: Provide Keyword and links in the following format, e.g, KW=Traveling Bloke [https://travelingbloke.com/collaborate-with-the-traveling-bloke/]

Step 2 - Content

    Travel Related: All content will have a travel focus to ensure it resonates with our audience. 
  2. 2
    Original: Your content will be unique and not published anywhere else. 
  3. 3
    Quality: Your content will be engaging, informative, and free of errors. All posts will be in English.
  4. 4
    Post Length & Links: Your article will be a minimum of 1200 words, perfect for detailed guides, in-depth analyses, or comprehensive narratives. You content will include 1-2 links within the content. Please use brackets to indicate the linked text, e.g., Traveling Bloke [https://travelingbloke.com/collaborate-with-the-traveling-bloke/]
  5. 5
    Headings and Subheadings: Used throughout your article for better readability.
  6. 6
     Meta Description: a 159 character meta description will be generated based on content to use for SEO purposes. 
  7. 7
    Anchor Keyword: Based on content we will identify an anchor keyword to use for SEO 

Step 3- Image Requirements

  1. 1
    Featured image: will be provided based on content that is free of any copyright issues. 
  2. 2
    We will also include 1-2 additional images (free of any copyright issues) within the content.

Step 4 - Approval Process 

  1. 1
    Initial Submission: We will generate a link to a Google Drive folder. In this folder, we'll include 3-5 of your best article ideas with a 100-word brief of each. 
  2. 2
    Approval: You will make a selection from the 3-5 briefs. 
  3. 3
    Project Starts: We ask for 5-10 business days for initial draft to be completed. 

Step 5 - Final Submission

    Review: We will share a rough draft of the content with you for approval and revisions. The draft will be available via a link to a Google Drive folder. Inside the folder, you will find a file named "post," which contains the content. This file will include the title (with 3-4 title options), introduction, body, and conclusion.

    Approval: Share the link to the folder in Google Drive with the completed post once it is ready for review.
  4. 4
    Add all photos to the same folder so we can access everything through the same link.

Step 6 - Post-Publication

    After approval post will be scheduled for publishing. You will be notified when it is scheduled to go live via email. 
  2. 2
    Once your post is published, we'll actively promote it across our social media channels, including X, Pinterest, and Instagram. To maximize visibility, we usually repost it multiple times over the course of a few weeks, aiming for 3-5 shares.

    We also encourage you to share the post on your own social media channels to help us reach an even wider audience.
